The Back Shop
www.thebackshop.co.ukAbout
The Back Shop is a leading retailer of back care products from around the world. It specialises in a wide range of products specially designed to help prevent back problems and bring relief to those suffering from back and neck complaints.
Established in 1984, the Back Shop was created with the view of bringing the very best products and technology in the field of ergonomics to back sufferers. The shop based in Marylebone, London is an impressive show room with highly trained staff providing expert advice to customers.
When our long-time client Back in Action took over the company recently they asked us to help bring the business online.
The Brief
As a high street shop The Back Shop is extremely popular with its customers and cleverly combines being a retailer for back related furniture products with providing expert advice on an individual basis to customers with specific needs.
The website needed to demonstrate these qualities; it had to showcase the products attractively, give visitors expert advice while helping customers to make informed and effective choices and function as a sophisticated online shop. The aim was also not only to drive online sales but also encourage customers to visit the store in person.
The new site needed to feature a back-end operations order processing system, manage stock and be a platform through which the team could communicate with customers and between themselves. The system would also need to produce management information and reporting.
Our Solution
We set to work designing a site that not only looks good but is exceptionally easy for the customer to use and navigate. The site is designed in such a way as to lead the shopper easily through the sales process, answering questions as they travel through the site, providing a gallery of images for each product and providing extra information about the products such as moving demonstrations and usage guidelines. This means that even though the customer isn’t in store they get a full sense of the product answering any questions they may have along the way, leading ultimately to more sales.
There is a huge selection of products and variants available online, and the site is set up to allow the shopper to browse the different options, colours and styles easily. The shop also features an easy to use basket and check out system, allowing shoppers to buy products securely through the site.
The back-end system shares Back in Action’s operational system. Find out more about how this works. This means that order processing, stock control, the product catalogue and internal and external communication for both shops are seamlessly integrated and can be managed from one central point.
